climate change resiliency planning

Client: National Renewable Energy Laboratory

Role: Facilitator and stakeholder outreach specialist

Planning for adaptation to climate change is on the minds of leaders at the highest levels of government. The President’s Climate Action Plan and Executive Order 13653, the Department of Energy’s Strategic Plan, and the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s Guidance all speak to climate change and preparing the nation for adapting to climate impacts. As such, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is developing a Vulnerability Assessment Report and a Climate Change Adaptation and Resiliency Action Plan.

This climate change resiliency and preparedness effort will identify how climate change could impede NREL from meeting its mission, and create an action plan to improve NREL’s resiliency to future changes in our climate. PACE Outreach principal Morgan Lommele, on the Stratus Consulting team, is facilitating this process. Tasks include facilitating a 20-person Steering Committee and five smaller work groups, developing the project’s Communications and Engagement Plan, conducting internal stakeholder interviews and engaging external stakeholders, compiling findings, and drafting sections of the assessment and report.
