Client: International Mountain Bicycling Association
Role: Trail building, advocacy, and non-profit management consultant
As part of the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew — the International Mountain Bicycling Association’s (IMBA) grassroots educational program and an authority on sustainable trail building practices — Morgan traveled to 46 US states and consulted with 60 local, state, and federal land management agencies; non-profits; and landowners on recreation management challenges, master planning, public outreach and natural resource management.
This work included helping recreation-based non-profit organizations build their capacity by providing feedback on their existing practices and suggesting areas for growth and improvement; teaching classes to advocates, other trail users, and government agencies across the United States on sustainable trail design and building; consulting on effective organizational advocacy techniques, political advocacy and leadership; as well as designing and leading volunteer trail work projects and coach land managers and volunteers on how to organize and lead successful volunteer projects
For IMBA, she also developed strategic communications documents to advance IMBA’s membership and political goals, including weekly blog posts, monthly eNews, quarterly print newsletters and social media posts.
